Fragrant moss is a collaboration between TAXA and the University of Copenhagen. It's been in development for over three years. The first moss fragrance, patchouli, was originally developed at the University of Copenhagen by Dr Henrik Simonsen as discussed in this paper. The inspiration for the original research was to find a way to create essential oils using photosynthesis rather than using old style chemical synthesis, which pollutes, or extraction from natural sources, which is inefficient and expensive.
